DESCRIPTION:The Vassar Haiti Project celebrates twenty years of supporting education\, health\, environmental and women's initiatives in a rural region of northwest Haiti. From September 7 through October 7\, more than 70 original Haitian artworks will be available for auction. Bidding will take place in nominal increments over the course of the month. Our auctions provide a great opportunity for any art enthusiast looking for both great deals and some unusual and unique pieces\, all of which will be featured in a website gallery open to the public. The online auction and live events can all be accessed through www.thehaitiproject.org. All purchases are 50% tax deductible and donations are 100% tax deductible. Christopher Bjork\, Professor of Education\, Asian Studies\, and International Studies at Vassar College\, will present opening remarks to kick off the festivities at 6 PM on Friday\, October 2. Meet some of our Haitian artists and gallery owners at 10 AM on Saturday\, October 3. We are especially excited to bring you a special live concert and interview with the Haitian singer\, NA KA at 7:30 PM Saturday evening. A raffle and closing remarks will wrap up the weekend at 5 PM on Sunday\, Oct 4.
