Cary Institute presents The Songs of ...

Description

On Friday, June 9 at 7 p.m. join the Cary Institute for a special presentation by biologist and nonfiction Pulitzer Prize finalist David George Haskell. He will discuss his new book The Songs of Trees. Haskell?s work integrates scientific, literary, and contemplative studies of the natural world. He is a professor of biology and environmental studies at the University of the South and a Guggenheim Fellow. The Songs of Trees explores the biological networks that surround all species, including humans. ?Haskell thinks like a biologist, writes like a poet, and gives the natural world the kind of open-minded attention one expects from a Zen monk rather than a hypothesis-driven scientist.? ?The New York Times The event is cosponsored by the Open Space Institute.
