Jobs Waiting is a federal program designed to help the long term unemployed find a career in healthcare. Westchester County received almost 10 million dollars for Hudson Valley candidates and employers. Candidates will attend a 6 week boot camp, work with a career coach, be eligible for classroom training, and work with a job developer. Employer Incentives Work Tryout Program- A structured, supervised learning experience in preparation for a related position. Incentives- 100% of wages are paid for by the Jobs Waiting program. Benefits- “try out” potential employees, risk-free. Timeframe is 6 weeks. On-the-Job Training – Occupational training and skills development in preparation for specific job opening. Incentives- Between 50-90% of wages are paid for by the Jobs Waiting program, depending on your organization’s size. Customized Training- Candidates are incumbent or existing employees. Classroom-based training for groups of employees with common and specific training needs. Incentives are 50% of your training cost are covered by the Jobs Waiting program.
